Almora Language Training Centre: Uttarakhand Expands Training for Jobs Abroad

Almora language training centre card on Uttarakhand overseas jobs scheme

Uttarakhand will open its second language training centre in Almora. Skill Development Minister Saurabh Bahuguna announced the Almora language training centre on 13 March 2026. Notably, the announcement came on the fifth day of the budget session at Bhararisain. The centre falls under the Mukhyamantri Kaushal Unnayan evam Vaishvik Rozgar Yojana. Hence, more hill youth can train for jobs abroad.

Second Centre After Dehradun

So far, the state has only one such centre, in Dehradun. It has worked since 2023, when the scheme began. Then, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami directed the department to increase the number of centres. As a result, Almora will become the second hub. Bahuguna said many more students “will now be able to benefit from the training.”

Budget Hike and Placement Record

Moreover, the state raised the training budget from Rs 75 lakh to Rs 3.3 crore. So far, 147 youth have received foreign language training under the scheme. Of these, 92 have found jobs in various countries. In addition, 10 more candidates hold job offers from Saudi Arabia.

How the Training Works

The course at the centre lasts eight to ten months. Also, 16 authorised agencies deliver the training in various foreign languages. Meanwhile, tension continues in West Asia. Still, the government said workers placed in Saudi Arabia are “completely safe.”

Fiscal Health Recognition

In the same session, Dhami also cited NITI Aayog’s Fiscal Health Index 2026. According to him, the index placed Uttarakhand second among North-Eastern and Himalayan states. Thus, the state plans to spend more on skills while keeping its finances in order.

About the Global Employment Scheme

The Mukhyamantri Kaushal Unnayan evam Vaishvik Rozgar Yojana prepares youth for overseas employment. Under it, trainees learn a foreign language before they seek jobs abroad. The Department of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship runs the scheme. Therefore, it offers hill youth a legal and safe route to global jobs.
