Muskan Rank 4 UKPSC Lower PCS 2024: Supply Inspector

The UKPSC Lower PCS 2024 result rewarded years of steady work for many aspirants. Muskan Rank 4 UKPSC Lower PCS 2024 secured the post of Supply Inspector. Moreover, she did it after missing the Upper PCS 2024 final list.

She shared her journey in a success talk with SAMVEG IAS. So, here are the key lessons from her preparation.

Major Highlights of Muskan’s Interview with Samveg IAS

Background and Family Support

Muskan belongs to Rani Pokhari, a village in Dehradun district. First, she studied at SGRR Bhaniyawala. Then, she completed her MSc in Chemistry from DBS PG College, Dehradun.

Her dream of civil services began in school. In fact, her father and elder sisters guided her towards this career. So, she started preparing at the end of 2022, after college.

As a female aspirant, she knows society often questions girls who study instead of marrying. However, her family stood firmly behind her. So, she ignored the outside noise. “You should know what you started and why. Then, you must stay on this journey,” she says.

Prelims Strategy of Muskan Rank 4 UKPSC Lower PCS 2024

Her prelims plan was simple. First, she solved PYQs every day. Then, she broke her preparation into subjects and their important parts. Also, you can read our UKPSC Lower PCS exam guide to understand each stage.

Mains and Answer Writing

The mains pattern had changed this time. So, first understand the syllabus. Next, use PYQs to see the lines on which questions come. Also, a cost-benefit analysis of topics is very important. For Uttarakhand in mains, she took help from AI, the internet and available coaching material.

Above all, write answers every day. You may join a daily answer writing programme or practise on your own. Either way, stay consistent. Besides, keep concise notes. After all, mains leaves no time to recall, so data must be at your fingertips.

For answer writing, she first watched videos and listened to toppers. In particular, she spent a lot of time on toppers’ copies. She studied how they wrote and how they scored. Then, she began writing in the same way.

Interview: Chemistry and Uttarakhand

The interview felt like an unknown stage to her. So, she joined the Samveg IAS interview programme. There, she learnt how the interview works and what questions come. Then, she focused on two areas: her Chemistry background and Uttarakhand. Indeed, most of her interview went along these lines.

Bouncing Back from Setbacks

Initially, she could not clear one or two prelims. Later, she cleared prelims but missed the Upper PCS 2024 final list. On that day, she doubted everything, and her confidence fell. Then, she stayed upset for a few days and also cried. “We should not hold back our emotions,” she says.

Meanwhile, she spent time with her family and did things she liked. After a short break, she regained her confidence. Finally, she restarted her preparation. “And now I am here,” she smiles.

Staying Away from Social Media

Muskan did not use Instagram or Facebook during preparation. First, she felt it would waste her time. Also, seeing selected people might lower her morale. So, she used YouTube only for study and WhatsApp for normal contact. Now, after her selection, she has finally created an Instagram ID.

Her Advice: Enjoy the Journey

“Work very hard, and one day it happens,” says Muskan Rank 4 UKPSC Lower PCS 2024. She admits that she too took a lot of stress. However, she asks aspirants to enjoy the journey. So, make a strategy, revise, and be a little easy on yourself.

Often, aspirants punish themselves and stop going anywhere. Instead, she suggests a balanced routine. Also, when a setback comes, analyse it. Then, find the gap and improve it.
