The government has announced the winners of the 72nd National Film Awards in New Delhi. The awards honour films certified during the 2024 calendar year. Notably, the political thriller *Article 370* emerged as the biggest winner. It won the prestigious Best Feature Film award.

About the National Film Awards
The National Film Awards are India’s most prestigious film honours. They began in 1954. Also, the Directorate of Film Festivals ran them for many years. Now, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting manages them through the National Film Development Corporation. The top awards carry the Swarna Kamal (Golden Lotus). Meanwhile, other awards carry the Rajat Kamal (Silver Lotus).

The Garhwali film *Dholi* won the award for Best Garhwali Film. Later, President Droupadi Murmu presented this award at the ceremony. So, the 72nd awards had a proud link with Uttarakhand.
Dadasaheb Phalke Award
The Dadasaheb Phalke Award is India’s highest honour in cinema. For 2024, veteran actor Anant Nag received it at the same ceremony. Earlier, Mohanlal received the award for 2023.
