Uttarakhand Ranks 1st Among Hilly & Northeastern States in NITI Aayog’s Investment Readiness Index 2026

Uttarakhand has ranked first among hilly and northeastern states in NITI Aayog’s Investment Readiness Index 2026. Clearly, this marks a major milestone for the state’s economic and industrial goals. Moreover, the result signals growing investor confidence in the Himalayan state.

Uttarakhand’s National Rank in the Investment Readiness Index 2026

At the national level, Uttarakhand secured the 11th position among all states and Union Territories (UTs). In addition, it scored 47.5 points. As a result, the state now sits in the prestigious “Front Runner” category.

Core Evaluation Parameters and Uttarakhand’s Performance

Essentially, the index evaluates states and UTs on key socio-economic pillars. Together, these pillars shape a sustainable business ecosystem. Accordingly, the table below shows Uttarakhand’s rank in the hilly and northeastern category.

In simple terms, the index measures how ready a state is to attract and retain investment. Hence, a high rank can help a state draw private capital. In turn, fresh investment can create jobs and boost local industry.
