The race took place on 23 May 2026 at Birsa Munda Stadium in Ranchi. Notably, he became the first Indian to run under 10.10 seconds. Thus, Indian sprinting has a fresh benchmark.
A Two-Day Record Battle
The record changed hands twice in two days. First, Gurindervir ran 10.17 seconds in the heats on 22 May. Shortly after, Animesh Kujur clocked 10.15 seconds to take the record back. Then, in the final, Gurindervir stormed to 10.09 seconds. As a result, he finished the meet as the fastest Indian ever.
