The total estimated milk production in the country is 176.35 million tonnes during 2017-18.
The National Action Plan for Dairy Development envisages milk production target of 254.55 Million Tonnes by 2022.
This Department is supplementing efforts of the State Governments to develop dairy infrastructure across the country by providing financial support through Dairy Development Schemes namely, National Programme for Dairy Development (NPDD), Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme, National Dairy Plan-I, Supporting Dairy Cooperatives and Farmer Producer Organizations engaged in dairy activities and Dairy Processing and Infrastructure Development Fund (DIDF) aiming at boosting up of milk production in the country.
