Third Pravasi Uttarakhandi Diwas on 13 November 2026 at Doon University

Uttarakhand will host the third Pravasi Uttarakhandi Diwas on 13 November 2026 in Dehradun. The venue is the Nityanand Auditorium of Doon University. Principal Secretary R.K. Sudhanshu reviewed the preparations at the Secretariat on 14 October 2026. Notably, the conference seeks a meaningful dialogue with Uttarakhandis living outside the state. Hence, the government wants their experience, suggestions and contributions for the state’s development.

Preparations Reviewed at the Secretariat

Secretaries Shailesh Bagoli, Vinod Kumar Suman and C. Ravishankar attended the meeting. Doon University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Surekha Dangwal and CDO Dehradun Abhinav Shah also took part. Moreover, Sudhir Chandra Nautiyal of the Uttarakhand Pravasi Cell and Deputy Director (Information) Badri Chand joined. Sudhanshu asked officials to identify and invite Uttarakhandis working in different states. Also, he wanted an international-standard, youth-focused and innovative event.

Sessions and Arrangements

The programme will include an inaugural session, sessions on development issues and cultural events. In addition, officials will screen short films on state schemes and policies. Meanwhile, departments must arrange travel, stay, food and transport for guests. Further, he asked officials to finalise a detailed plan within a week. Registration has already started.

Earlier Pravasi Uttarakhandi Sammelans

The state held the first Pravasi Uttarakhandi Sammelan at Doon University on 7 November 2024. There, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami called it an effort to reconnect everyone with Uttarakhand’s soil. About 200 participants from 17 states attended that edition. Later, on 12 January 2025, Dehradun hosted a separate sammelan for Uttarakhandis living abroad. Then, the state scheduled the second edition at Doon University for 5 November 2025, during its Rajat Jayanti year.

About the Uttarakhand Pravasi Cell

The state formed a Pravasi Prakoshth, or Migrant Cell, to coordinate with Uttarakhandis outside the state. It runs a portal for registration and events. Notably, migration from hill villages remains a major concern in Uttarakhand. So, CM Dhami has urged pravasis to adopt villages, invest and visit their ancestral homes every year.
