Uttarakhand to Get Its First NCC Training Academy at Ganiyan Village in Pauri

Uttarakhand will get its first NCC training academy. It will come up at Ganiyan village in Pauri district. Notably, the academy will follow the lines of the Indian Military Academy (IMA). Moreover, it will cost about ₹50 crore.

About the New NCC Training Academy

The academy will train NCC cadets from across the state. Also, it will give them modern facilities for drills, camps and adventure training. Thus, young cadets will not need to travel far for advanced training.

Why Pauri Is a Good Choice

Pauri Garhwal has a long tradition of military service. In fact, many families in the district have served in the Army. Also, the Garhwal Rifles has deep roots in the region. Therefore, an NCC academy here fits the local culture.

Benefits for the Youth

The academy will bring several benefits:

  • Better training for NCC cadets in the hills
  • More youth ready for careers in the armed forces
  • Leadership and discipline among students
  • Local jobs and activity in a rural area

Furthermore, a big project like this may help reduce migration from Pauri. Notably, Pauri is among the districts most hit by migration.

About the NCC

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) began in 1948. It works under the Ministry of Defence. Its motto is “Unity and Discipline”. Also, NCC cadets can earn B and C certificates. These certificates give benefits in armed forces recruitment.

Uttarakhand’s Military Links

Uttarakhand is often called a land of soldiers. For example, Dehradun hosts the Indian Military Academy. Similarly, Lansdowne is home to the Garhwal Rifles Regimental Centre. Also, Ranikhet hosts the Kumaon Regimental Centre. Hence, the NCC academy adds to this strong military ecosystem.
