The Agriculture Insurance Company of India (AIC) has launched the Krishi Sakhi initiative for women farmers. Notably, the campaign marks the International Year of the Woman Farmer 2026. It also runs on social media under the hashtag #AICforHer. Through the year, AIC plans videos, a walkathon, workshops and hygiene drives. Hence, the effort links crop insurance with women’s empowerment in farming.
Month-Wise Activities Under #AICforHer
In January 2026, AIC released an introductory video on social media. Then, in February, Head Office staff joined a short walkathon carrying an #AICforHer display. Next, March brought ground-level workshops for women farmers on crop insurance schemes. Later in the year, AIC plans articles, interviews and rural sanitation campaigns.
Training Women as Krishi Sakhis
Moreover, AIC will train local women as Krishi Sakhis, or farmer friends. These women will form a grassroots leadership network in villages. In addition, workshops will explain the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), premium subsidies and claim settlement. The outreach also includes modules on sanitation and menstrual hygiene.
