Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Bharat RE Summit 2026 on 2 November 2026. MNRE is hosting it at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, from 2 to 5 November. Notably, its theme is “Invest. Innovate. Inspire.” At the opening, the Prime Minister announced a fresh non-fossil capacity goal. Hence, the summit shapes India’s next clean energy phase.

Participation and Partners

According to PIB, the summit has drawn over 40 ministers and more than 400 exhibitors. Moreover, participants from over 130 countries are taking part. In addition, nine Country Partners support the event. They are Australia, Denmark, the EU, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and the UK. Also, 13 states and UTs are taking part.

Three Events on One Platform

For the first time, MNRE has combined three events under one roof. Alongside the expo, the 9th Session of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) Assembly is under way. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi chaired its inaugural session on 3 November 2026. Meanwhile, the 4th International Conference on Green Hydrogen (ICGH) is part of the summit. Interestingly, the summit succeeds the RE-INVEST series, last held in Gujarat in 2024.

What PM Modi Announced

The Prime Minister noted that India has achieved nearly 300 GW of its 500 GW target for 2030. Then, he set a goal of another 500 GW of non-fossil capacity in 10 to 11 years. In fact, he admitted, “This target is somewhat difficult, but I have faith in the capability of my country.” He also said, “the future of Energy Security lies in Clean Energy.”

India’s Clean Energy Numbers

India met its Paris pledge of 50% non-fossil installed capacity in 2025, five years early. As of 30 September 2026, non-fossil capacity stood at about 308 GW. Besides, solar module capacity has grown from about 2 GW to over 200 GW in a decade. However, MNRE estimates the 500 GW push needs about US$220 billion between 2027 and 2030.
