The Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) has sped up work on the Dehradun Master Plan 2041. Recently, a high-level meeting reviewed the plan at the MDDA office on 4 April 2026. Secretary (Housing) Dr R Rajesh Kumar chaired it. Notably, the work follows directions from Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. The plan aims at planned, balanced and long-term growth for the capital.
A Plan Built on Public Participation
According to MDDA Vice-Chairman Banshidhar Tiwari, public participation forms the base of the plan this time. Therefore, MDDA will hold special camps in every municipal ward. Residents can file objections and suggestions there. Moreover, a new three-member committee will hear these objections. It includes the Vice-Chairman, the Secretary and the Joint Secretary.
“A Blueprint for Dehradun’s Future”
Meanwhile, Dr Rajesh Kumar called the plan more than a document. He described it as the outline of Dehradun’s future. Also, he directed officials to settle all objections within fixed timelines.
Key Focus Areas
Today, traffic is a major concern in the fast-growing city. So, the plan proposes new corridors, bypasses and smart traffic management. It also covers road widening, public transport and parking. In addition, it stresses river-bank protection, large-scale tree planting and green zones. Tiwari also named a Convention Centre, a Health City and GIFT City as growth projects.
Mussoorie and Coordination
A separate master plan for Mussoorie is also in progress. Officials want Mussoorie to become a model hill station. It should balance tourism with environmental care. Meanwhile, the urban development, transport, environment and tourism departments will work together on the plan.
