Major Highlights of Parth Pandey’s Interview with Samveg IAS
The Spark at an Alumni Meet
Parth studied engineering at G.B. Pant University, Pantnagar. During college, he attended an alumni meet where Vineet Nayar, former CEO of HCL and founder of Sampark Foundation, spoke. Nayar explained that some jobs pay less but let you change lives directly. Consequently, this idea stayed with Parth.
Soon after, he even started a cab aggregator company to help local drivers. Unfortunately, the venture did not succeed. Later, he secured MBA admits and foreign options. However, his college senior Apurva Pandey, now a senior IAS officer, advised him to start civil services preparation right away. So, he did.
Learning to Live with Uncertainty
Initially, Parth believed that intelligence and hard work would bring quick success. However, he soon realised that the exam is highly uncertain. “Whether you miss by one mark or fifty, the result is binary,” he says.
After his early attempts, he moved to the CSR sector. Today, he works as Manager, CSR, at Century Plyboards in Kolkata. In fact, he sees CSR as close to public service, because he helps people through corporate funds.
Technology as an Advantage
According to Parth, an engineering background helps a lot. For example, geography, economy, environment and science topics become easier to understand. Moreover, he used AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity extensively.
Interestingly, Parth Pandey Rank 2 UKPSC 2024 even practised his interview with AI. First, he created his persona. Then, he added interview transcripts and held mock conversations with the chatbot.

Preparing Hindi as an English Medium Candidate
In Uttarakhand, Hindi marks count in the final merit. Hence, Parth could not ignore it. First, he studied synonyms, antonyms and other basics repeatedly. Then, he asked his mother and brother to quiz him randomly. This also kept him connected with family.
For formats like press notes, he wrote each one two or three times. Above all, he wrote a little Hindi every day. “On the first day, my fingers started hurting,” he recalls.
