  • Gold: 13
  • Silver: 17
  • Bronze: 9
  • Total: 39
  • Rank: Fourth

Australia topped the table once again. Meanwhile, England and Canada took the next two places. Boxing gave India its biggest haul. Also, Mirabai Chanu won India’s first gold in weightlifting.

A Smaller Games

The 2026 Games ran for 11 days in Glasgow. However, organisers cut the number of sports to reduce costs. For example, shooting, wrestling, hockey, badminton and table tennis were not part of the programme. These are sports where India usually wins many medals. Hence, India’s tally was lower than in earlier editions.

Handover to Ahmedabad

At the closing ceremony, India invited the world to Ahmedabad. Notably, Glasgow’s Lord Provost handed the CWG flag to Indian representatives. These included Olympic medallist Neeraj Chopra and IOA President P T Usha. Finally, Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi received the flag. Thus, Scotland formally passed the hosting role to India.
